Mission, vision and values. And how they work together.

By: Andy Getsey, Co-Founder, Employera

Your company’s mission, vision and values are more important to prospective candidates and employees than ever before. Employera’s teammates have worked with dozens of companies, large and small, to create or update their mission, vision and values statements. Here’s how we think of them.

How Mission, Vision, Values and behaviors fit together

Your company’s Mission Statement says what your company does, and defines its reason for being. Your Vision Statement signals the impact your company wants to make, now and down the line. Both are super important in attracting top candidates and keeping them motivated. Examples:

Nordstrom, Tesla and Amazon Mission Vision

Related, but different, right?

Values are the core principles that your company thinks are important enough to guide its decisions and your people’s behavior. They shouldn’t be platitudes, they should authentically reflect the beliefs of the company, and your executives and employees need to walk the talk. Examples:

Nordstrom, Tesla and Amazon Values

If your company is at a point where it would like to analyze and update its mission, vision and values, we’d be happy to talk. We have a well-designed, enterprise friendly, and collaborative  approach that ensures strategic alignment, authenticity, differentiation and uptake across the organization.
